I'M SEARCHING FOR by Iona Dixon
I’m searching for
A correct metaphor
A vessel too dominant
A blossom too decorative
A sword of highest efficacy
Or perhaps the inexorable paintbrush
Amongst the paraphernalia
Of ‘beautiful’ obscure objects perfect for allegory

I see none to resemble you
A wise owl
Too clichéd
Though you’d love to be named that

You are to me marginality
That jostles impels and coerces
At the despair and lamentable feeble
Upsets of this budding inferior age
You are to me friendship rapport and au courant
A beacon an effulgence

Tu êtes mon soleil
