In Memory of the White Terror
by James Macris
I hear among the soldiers’ bayonet stares
Lives whispered in iron chains
On the wind fade into
The bells’ languid ring,
Eternally…
I let the tears fall from my eyes.
And unbroken, dies
Borne coldly away by steel arms
Lingering,
To let the tears fall
Down the gallows’ arms
The mass graves where courage resides.
Let loss be the battle cry
Wherever they may lie…
